Find your place with nationality and faith societies
Finding your feet at university can be tough – it can be a complete culture shock, especially if you’re an international student trying to get to grips with a completely new culture; but rest assured, we’re confident you’ll settle into university life with ease. We currently have a huge number of international students, and all of them were once in the same position as you, which is why we now have 36 individual faith and nationality societies, so you’re sure to find one to suit you!
Societies traditionally are led by a committee of elected members, headed up by a ‘Chair’, often with a ‘Secretary’ or ‘Vice Chair’ to support them. Many societies will then have ‘Social Secretaries’ (dedicated to organisation of social events, such as networking activities, parties, or gatherings), as well as a ‘Media Representative’ (someone who represents the club online and in print). Many societies will have committee positions specific to their needs, i.e some religious societies have ‘prayer coordinators’.
