What levels of experience do you cater to?

Loughborough Student’s Volleyball Club caters for all different abilities. We have 2 competitive teams within the club that enables students to compete at a high level throughout the year in BUCS and several tournaments such as Student Cup. The club also caters for students who want to try a new sport and want to be active.

Why did you join this club?

I decided to join the team as I have played volleyball for a number of years before university. I wanted to continue to develop as a player, whilst also being a part of a team and enjoying the social aspect of the sport.

Best or most memorable moments from your time in the club?

Midlands’s conference cup champions was the cherry on top of an incredible season. We’ve never been as united as a team as we were on court that day, not a single weak link. All of us played our best and it was certainly reflected in the 3-0 result. It was a game immersed in energy, spirit and outstanding determination. The best way to end a great year of volleyball for Loughborough.

Aside from the sport, what kind of social activities does your club get up to?

With a large amount of members, the Loughborough Students Volleyball Club is in fact, a very social club. Our social secretaries organise many events throughout the year such as themed Hey Ewe nights, team meals, Christmas and summer parties and other social events. All of these are a great opportunity to get to know one another in the club and becoming good friends both on and off the court.

What would you say to someone thinking of picking up the sport?

Volleyball is a great sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. It isn’t just about six people and a ball, it’s about the team coming and working together. Whether you are an experienced player, or want to pick up a new sport, I’m sure volleyball will be great for you!
