AU Squash l Focus Series

Alex from the AU Squash Club tells us what it’s like to be a member and remembers some of his best moments in the club. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, Squash Club would love to see you at this year’s Freshers Bazaar!

What levels of experience do you cater to?

The squash club caters for everyone, from first time beginners through to those of a national standard.

Why did you join this club?

As I’d competed in squash from a young age, I knew I had to keep playing at university.

Best or most memorable moments from your time in the club?

For me it would have to be the third team getting to the conference cup final, the whole club came to support and cheer them on!

Describe your club in three words…

Social, dedicated, enthusiastic!

Aside from the sport, what kind of social activities does your club get up to?

Lots! There’s the tour we do every Easter. We also host frequent socials including beer pong, pub squash (pub golf but our own rules), the AU Summer Ball and many more. We take part in the local doubles tournament and county championships too.

What would you say to someone thinking of picking up the sport?

Whatever your ability come down to our recreational sessions where a first team member will be on hand to help you get started! We look forward to seeing you there.
