The ‘Top50’ Scheme gives you the chance to gain practical work experience, and develop those essential transferable skills in organisations that are committed to physics and physicists. Not only will you gain paid experience from this Scheme, but employers benefit from a fresh perspective and new talent.Employers are in an ideal position to learn more about you, your skills, and talents, whilst providing a supportive environment.

As a direct result of this Scheme, a number of participants from previous years were offered jobs upon graduation. If you are uncertain about the benefits of participating in this Scheme, read Time Well Spent.

This year the ‘Top50’ Scheme has expanded to include more placements in a variety of sectors. Whether you are interested in gaining work experience in academia, industry or research I’m sure you’ll find something that will interest you.

To be eligible to apply you must be a member of the Institute of Physics (membership is free for physics students), you must be on an accredited or recognised physics degree course, and be in your penultimate year. You can apply for as many placements as you like and successful candidates will receive funding for one placement.
