Study China Programme

The Study China Programme offers a unique learning opportunity for students to experience Chinese life, culture, language, arts and business.

The Study China Programme is managed by The University of Manchester and funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

You will follow a three week timetable of activities and classes designed to develop Chinese language skills, knowledge of current economic climate, arts, history and culture.

We welcome applications from students with any level of language experience, from absolute beginners to fluent speakers. You will be placed in a tiered class depending on your ability and experience.

The Statistical Showcase is intended for anyone in the first few years of their statistical career aimed to broaden the horizons of young statisticians through showcasing the wide range of statistical careers available. Talks will explore careers within medicine, finance, industry, environment, government and academia. The day will conclude with a wine reception sponsored by Sparx giving invaluable networking opportunities.

The Year in Industry: a student placement scheme

The Year in Industry (YINI), part of the Engineering Development Trust, is a national educational charity with over a quarter of a century’s experience in organising paid degree relevant industrial and sandwich work placements.

The YINI scheme offers students a unique resource in their search for paid degree relevant work experience. Students are matched with companies on the basis of their degree discipline, ranging from engineering, science and computing disciplines through to business subjects such as, management,  marketing, logistics etc. YINI also provides a mentoring service to students during their placement year and the chance to take part in free management training.
