STUDENT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (SLDP)

SLDP

The innovative Student Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) is a year-long programme that supports students from non-traditional backgrounds that are displaying leadership potential, but lack the necessary networks and support systems to turn their time at university into an employment outcome upon graduation.

It is a free, charity run programme available to first and second year university students. Over the course of the year, you will design and complete a community action project and develop key skills for future employment. We will support you throughout the programme including a residential training weekend, internship opportunities and a mentor.

Research Project Assistant vacancy

We need someone to develop the number of researcher and international contacts on the Careers and Employability Career Contacts database.

JOB DUTIES:

Research

1. To use a variety of methods (DLHE statistics, Adviser records, current contacts, departmental contacts etc) to identify possible contacts (research staff, doctoral graduates and international graduates) –

2. In conjunction with the project manager, write a project plan

3. In conjunction with the project manager, design an appropriate questionnaire

4. To contact prospective contacts.

5. To investigate wider contact options than database registration eg case study, mentor etc

6. To chase outstanding replies.

7. To write report on findings (if appropriate)

Administration

1. To keep accurate records of people contacted, replies received and outstanding replies.

2. To enter new contacts onto database

3. To regularly report progress to project manager

4. To raise any issues or problems with project manager in a timely manner

Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois 

The renowned Art Institute of Chicago is currently seeking interns for two departments:

1) Photography Collections Internship

involves assisting the Collection Manager with cataloging and care of photographs in the Art Institute’s collection.  Intern will perform a variety of research and administrative functions supporting other departmental activities. Candidates should have a background in art history as well as a basic knowledge of photographic history and an interest in the medium.  Knowledge of digital imaging and previous office or museum experience is a plus.

2) Photography Curatorial Internship

for an enthusiastic and organized undergraduate or graduate student to assist three curators in the research, writing, and coordination of their upcoming acquisitions, exhibitions, and other curatorial projects, as well as other departmental administrative functions. Candidates should have a basic background in art history as well as the ability to independently research and an interest in photography. Special consideration will be given to candidates with research or  coursework related to the history of conceptual photography, color photography, and/or urban photography.

Destinations of 2012 Loughborough University First Degree Graduates

Exploring the Destinations of 2012 graduate leavers can prove invaluable when researching one’s own future career options. It can identify employers who like to recruit Loughborough graduates and different job roles one might which to research further.

The Destination of Leavers of Higher Education (DLHE) survey,  is conducted six months after graduation and looks at everyone from the UK who left university after their first degree. National details will be published in a useful publication called What Do Graduates Do?, however, details on Loughborough University’s 2012 first degree graduates can be accessed now, through the Destinations page on Loughborough University Careers and Employability Centre’s website and through  eGEMS which provides access to destinations information for Loughborough graduates at school and course level.
