Volunteer mentoring opportunity with local schools

The Student Outreach and Recruitment Office (SOAR) at Loughborough runs a mentoring scheme in local schools. Mentoring is a great way to gain experience working with young people and to develop communication skills whilst really helping a young person to reach their full potential.

Mentors will work with full support from teachers and the SOAR team to raise aspirations and support the studies of a small group of 13-17 year olds in a local school. You will receive training and support throughout the programme. You will be asked to hold at least 10 sessions with the students over the course of the academic year 2013-14.

Initial meetings before the summer break.

If you would be interested in being a mentor and would like to know more please contact Lisa Ambler l.m.ambler@lboro.ac.uk.

Taking part in the scheme will earn you points towards the Loughborough Employability Award, which will be open to new enrolments from October 2013.
