  • Wednesday 6 November, 1.00pm  Preparing for Interview and Assessment Centres – This session looks at the types of interview you may encounter, the questions you may be asked, and the typical activities you’ll come across at an assessment centre. Delivered jointly by an employer and a careers adviser

  • Wednesday 6 November,  6.00pm – Perfecting your Covering Letters –  what needs to be included in a covering letter and  help you sell yourself effectively
  • Thursday 7 November, 6.00pm – Non-EEA students: Making Yourself Attractive to Employers – Hear from Loughborough Alumni who, as non-EEA students, have successfully secured employment and developed their careers in the UK. Employers you will be able to meet are from Morgan Stanley, GE, JCB and Optare plc.
  • Thursday 7 November – Negotiation – CANCELLED
  • Friday 8 November, 1.00pm  – Perfecting your CV – aimed at students who have already compiled a CV but would like to update it or help with making it even better and ready to use in the recruitment process. You will be required to bring a copy of your CV to the workshop as you will be using it in an exercise

The Award scheme helps you to record and reflect on your experience to support you as you apply for placements and graduate employment. Successful completion is formally recognised by the University.

Volunteer opportunity, Oxfam online shop

Oxfam are seeking student volunteers, with an interest in fashion and photography,specifically in preparing items for their online shop.

Unilever Future Leaders Programme for international students

The programme enables students to go through assessment stages(interview and assessment centre) in the UK Headquarter, but allow them to work in their applied country – usually their home country.

The programme last for 2-3 years and designed to develop the graduates to manager level positions. Functions including Financial Management, Marketing, HR, Supply Chain as well as R&D.

Mentoring opportunity in banking/finance

Ncorus is a new, free and exciting mentoring platform which connects students to young professionals in the banking/accounting industry.

Set up by a recent graduate of Loughborough University, the Ncorus Team have recently contacted us to confirm they are currently looking for new students to join the scheme as mentees and others to join as campus executives to help grow the network across the UK.

The Year in Industry: a student placement scheme

The Year in Industry (YINI), part of the Engineering Development Trust, is a national educational charity with over a quarter of a century’s experience in organising paid degree relevant industrial and sandwich work placements.

The YINI scheme offers students a unique resource in their search for paid degree relevant work experience. Students are matched with companies on the basis of their degree discipline, ranging from engineering, science and computing disciplines through to business subjects such as, management,  marketing, logistics etc. YINI also provides a mentoring service to students during their placement year and the chance to take part in free management training.
