The Learn Suggestion System
Continuing with a long-standing tradition of being driven by demand and user need, we have recently launched the Learn Suggestion System.
The system allows academic staff to make anonymous suggestions and comment/vote upon other people’s suggestions. This will help us to prioritise future development work, and give academic staff the opportunity to have their say about any future improvements before they are implemented. This is important, as many changes to Learn affect all users of the system, and not just the person who proposed the change.
Suggestions which receive favourable votes/comments will be discussed at the next ELOG (E-Learning Operations Group) meeting. Once a suggested enhancement has been approved, it will be implemented by the appropriate team at an agreed time. Some suggestions may require changes to the LUSI system which populates Learn. These suggestions will be passed on for investigation by the LUSI team as appropriate.
Learn is based on the popular open source platform Moodle. The E-Learning Systems team regularly update Learn with the latest Moodle patches and bug fixes. The current position is that we intend to upgrade to the next major version of Moodle (2.0) for the academic year 2011/2012. As a result, some popular suggested enhancements may be delayed until they are released as part of Moodle 2.0.
