Developing online distance learning

As regular readers of this blog will know, over the last 6 months the University has funded a set of online distance learning development projects through the Distance Learning Fund. This covered 7 academic departments, with another project focused on the supporting IT infrastructure (including expansion of the ReVIEW lecture capture system and the Elluminate web conferencing licence, as well as enhancements to Learn).

For the academic departments involved, the projects have presented a variety of challenges, including the fundamental question of what online distance learning should actually look like. Certainly this has been the experience of staff involved in the WEDC DL project, as can be seen in the following interviews with Brian Reed (Lecturer) and Rod Shaw (Publications Manager).
