The grass is greener…
I’ve just got back to my desk from presenting over at the School of Business and Economics to an Association of Business Schools meeting. The group were all Directors of Teaching and Learning or in similar roles at business schools from around the country. Keith Pond, the ADT for SBE who was hosting the meeting, had asked me to give a brief talk on ‘institutional e-learning strategy’.
It was interesting to hear from staff at other institutions how the issues we all face are pretty much the same. With regard to learning technologies, everyone agreed that it was getting increasingly difficult to persuade academic staff to attend central scheduled staff development workshops.
It’s easy to think that the grass is greener elsewhere, and that other institutions have made much more progress with particular initiatives, but when you actually chat to staff this turns out not to be the case!
