'Faculty Focus' – advice from across the Atlantic

Faculty Focus
June 5, 2013General, New lecturers Standard

Based in the United States, Faculty Focus provides various free, as well as paid for, resources in the form of newsletters, downloadable reports, etc., regarding learning and teaching issues. Having subscribed to their free e-newsletter (sign up along the right-hand side of their homepage) and having downloaded a couple of their free reports over the past six months, this post suggests that colleagues might be interested in having a look around this accessible web resource for themselves.

The most recent Faculty Focus posting entited Questions about All Those Questions Teachers Ask (5 June 2013) centres on the role that questions can play in a classroom situation, while others such as Cell Phones in the Classroom: What’s Your Policy? (15 April 2013) and Peer-led Reading Groups Boost Engagement and Retention (18 February 2013) have raised pertinent issues and possible solutions to issues faced by people across Higher Education here in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, special reports such as Teaching Mistakes from the College Classroom and 10 Effective Classroom Management Techniques Every Faculty Member Should Know are just two of the documents which are readily available free to subscribers.
